Derek Rohlffs is Bravium’s proprietor and winemaker. Derek holds an Environmental Studies degree from UC Santa Barbara and completed winemaking coursework at UC Davis, including its Wine Executive Program. He pursued his passion for wine when he started making small lots in 2001.

Derek employs simple, traditional winemaking techniques – gravity-moving the wine whenever possible, for example, and bottling his red wines unfiltered – allowing the source fruit to remain at the forefront, vine to bottle. Derek’s travels to notable winemaking regions in Europe, including France and Italy, as well as Australia, helped hone his winemaking approach, a blend of Old and New World winemaking.

Bravium produces wines from many of California’s most notable appellations, including Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, and Santa Cruz Mountains. Bravium is Derek’s flagship brand focused on the production of single vineyard designated wines. He has also created a roster of Artisan wine brands, from Proprietary White and Red Blends – White Wedding and Lucky – to Bordeaux Blends from Napa’s Diamond Mountain District.

Derek is a Member of the Cherokee Nation and Bravium is a registered TERO entity.
