About Us
- Vineyards
Jack Rabbit Hill planted it's 1st block in 2000 and since then we’ve planted 4 blocks totaling 22 acres. Each block is surrounded by protected wildlife habitat and/or pasture. Our plan is to grow to 35 acres over the next few years. Along the way we've identified a handful of red and white varieties that perform well in our setting: Pinot noir, Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, Riesling, Foch, Vignoles, and Cabernet Franc.
This 70-acre farm is located on Redlands Mesa, near Hotchkiss, Colorado. JRH makes wines from certified-Biodynamic vineyards, available on the web and at fine stores & restaurants in Colorado. JRH is also home to the Peak Spirits distillery, makers of Caprock Organic Gin & Vodka, as well as 20 acres of pasture with small families of cattle, sheep, and chickens, and 12 acres of protected wildlife habitat.
Demeter-certified Biodynamic® farm
Jack Rabbit Hill has been certified organic since 2000 and completed its Biodynamic certification with Demeter USA in June 2008. The JRH property teems with life, and BD (Biodynamic) practices offer us the best way to tap into "Nature's storehouse" for growing wines with great character.
Soil, plant and wine vitality are supported with a range of holistic BD practices: on-farm composting for building soils, compost & herb teas for plant nutrition, habitat for diverse insects & microorganisms for balancing pests, livestock for manuring. No synthetic fertilizers or biocides are used at Jack Rabbit Hill.
