Cavaletti Vineyards Moorpark

THE BEST Wines from Southern California

Cavaletti Vineyards is proud to be part of the small and passionate group of wineries leading a winemaking renaissance in the sunshine of Southern California. Our wines have been gaining attention since our first harvest in 2016.

We are dedicated to the farming and preservation of unique vineyard sites and maximizing their expression in our wines. Each season we work with a dozen or so varieties and vineyards stretching from Los Alamos in northern Santa Barbara County to the historic Rancho Cucamonga region in the south. Our primary focus is the forgotten winegrowing region of Ventura and Los Angeles County.

We utilize organic farming and minimal irrigation to produce wines that are loaded with personality and as unique as the vineyards in which they are grown. Our winemaking relies on native yeast fermentation, neutral oak barrels, and traditional winemaking techniques.

Our wines proudly bear the signature of each vintage and are a unique statement of time and place. They range from classically styled rosé and white wines to hedonistic reds of power and refinement.

We produce varietal, vineyard designate, and blends from Ventura, Los Angeles, and Santa Barbara Counties.

Wine is made in the vineyard

Cavaletti Vineyards produces wines that authentically express varietal character and unique vineyard sites in our region. In the vineyard we respect our natural resources and farm using sustainable and organic practices. This drive to reduce inputs and increase quality means that we work hard to understand our sites each season. We farm multiple vineyards that we believe have the potential to produce exciting wines and partner with other thoughtful farmers in our region.

When we do our work well in the vineyard we are able to do embarrassingly little in the winery. Native yeasts, neutral oak barrels, and patience are the main techniques we use to craft unique wines that are full of personality.
Our wines are released three times per year to our wine club members, made available on our website, in our winery tasting room, and offered to select retailers and restaurants.

Patrick Kelley

Owner/ Winegrower/ Winemaker

Cavaletti's founder

Inspired by the lost winegrowing legacy of Los Angeles County and the untapped potential of Ventura County, Patrick founded Cavaletti Vineyards in 2016.

He had an ambitious goal - to produce world class wines from this unheralded region. Using thoughtful farming, straightforward winemaking, and hard work he has created wines that have attracted attention since their first release.

Since that time he has continuously sought out new sites, reinvigorated forgotten vineyards, and feels that he has barely scratched the surface of the region's potential.

"My wines all have unique and distinct personalities while still fitting under the description of 'balanced.' The only principle that I focus on is that the wines should authentically represent the place that they are from and should be immensely enjoyable to drink."
