What Does Mindfulness Mean?

“Paying attention; On purpose, being in the present moment and being there non-judgmentally.”

Mindfulness is the opposite of mindlessness.
Mindfulness is waking up out of autopilot and ‘taking the steering wheel’ to be in the present.

We practice mindfulness by maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations and the surrounding environment.

Mindfulness also involves non-judgment. This means that we pay attention to our thoughts and feelings with the attitude of an impartial witness — without believing them or taking them personally.

These tools, when used in training horses and in giving riding lessons, allow for Maximum learning in a non-threating, easy to understand lesson format.
Thus, the horse and rider achieve all that is possible with the least amount of stress and the highest amount of success.
